Experimental Research Around Versatile Alternating Stream Transmission

Flexible alternating stream transmission systems, or (FACTS) in short, uses a section inverter transformer (PhIT) and controlled ferromagnetic elements to deliver electricity to the masses. That's just about what Edison's DC systems did; he had local power stations everywhere, and that they used heaps and tons of serious wires; worse, the voltage delivered to the so much end of the network was substantially but near the stations, so customers were paying for more power than they were getting. When Westinghouse got Tesla's AC method into the market, all it took was changing a tap on a transformer to place the voltage where it ought to be, and the lower losses of the upper-voltage distribution system reduced the problem in the primary place.
